I have been working with Kellie for 4 months now and within that time she has been part of my success at the recently held ITU Age Group World Championships on the Gold Coast, my third championships since 2012.
After identifying my Why – why I do what I do, what drives me, and what gets in the way, we have been working together to identify strategies to help me find more time for what is important to me and forgetting the un-important. Goal prioritising within the three main areas of my life have been key.
Work demands a lot from me, including working long hours to achieve targets. With triathlon and other aspects of life, I always find I have lots on my mind and find it hard to concentrate; Kellie has worked with me to manage my concentration levels, including using mindfulness techniques to focus my attention. This has helped considerably to get the most out of my training and racing.
We have also identified that sleep is important for my performance, both in triathlon and at work. We have worked together on a couple of practical strategies to optimise my sleep, as I know now that the more I sleep the better I perform!
I’m excited to see what more we can achieve together in the next season, and what I can take with me for years to come as I aim for my first Ironman within the next few years.
